Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to become a key part of our established and supportive PIER Early Intervention team, part of our Psychosis Pathway. This Pathway is a key part of the dynamic and evolving Psychology and Psychological Therapies strategy which is at the heart of LPT's transformation process.

You will work closely with our 8b Leads to support our Assistant Psychologist and Trainees. You will be based at Merlyn Vaz Health and Social Centre but will travel county wide to see clients in their homes, community venues and hospital settings.

LPT is keen to develop psychologically informed practice throughout our services and you will support a psychologically minded MDT to use 5P formulation and Decider Skills to work creatively with complex clients with psychosis.

You will be joining a multi skilled Psychosis Pathway of Psychologists, CBT Therapists and Systemic Family Therapists offering a range of family and individual interventions including CBTp, BFT, CFT, REBT and Open Dialogue and opportunities for further training would be strongly encouraged and supported.

Within the Psychosis Pathway we are striving to strengthen the psychological interventions for psychosis across all services and settings and so there will be scope to train and joint work with staff working with clients at all points of their psychosis journey including ARMS, Assertive Outreach, Crisis and Home Treatment, Community Teams and In-Patient teams.

Main duties of the job

You will carry a caseload and work within a multi professional and recovery-oriented framework to provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy for service-users their carers and families within PIER.

You will provide supervision, consultancy and clinical support to MDT colleagues, Assistant Psychologists and Trainees within PIER and the wider Psychosis Pathway.

You will facilitate training, development and application of agreed models of psychological, psychosocial and psycho-educational interventions as needed.

You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures.

You will contribute as an experienced clinician to MDT and Psychosis Pathway meetings to ensure the effective delivery of high quality, responsive psychological therapies which meet NCAP therapy targets, support LPT transformation plans and help to shape a psychologically informed service wide Psychosis Pathway.

You will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by PIER and provide clinical placements for Trainee Clinical Psychologists.

  • A minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a specialist clinical psychologist, or an alternative agreed by the Head of Speciality. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
