Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Family and Systemic Psychotherapist to our diverse, multi disciplinary CAMHS Eating Disorder Team.

You will be an experienced and qualified Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with current UKCP registration, or be in your final year of training. If the latter, we would request a reference from your course tutor.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with community and inpatient services. Alongside this, we have a Home Intervention Team and a developing team supporting young people with a diagnosis of Arfid. Within the core team, we offer early specialist assessment and intervention using evidence-based approaches to young people up to the age of 18 years old and their families. We pride ourselves in offering a robust induction plan. Systemic interventions/ family work is part of our core treatment offer. You will be offered specialist supervision, from an experienced family therapist within the team.

Main duties of the job

Whilst a full job description and person specification is attached to this advert, key elements of the role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Contributing to the assessment and treatment of young people and their families with a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder
  • Providing Family Therapy-Anorexia Nervosa and Family Therapy-Bulimia Nervosa within CAMHS EDT
  • Providing specialised Systemic Psychotherapy within CAMHS EDT
  • Offering systemic advice, consultation, supervision and training to members of the MDT
  • To be part of the wider CAMHS family therapy team; supporting the continued development and promotion of systemic practice across the service

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualification in relevant mental health / social welfare profession and demonstrable practice over a minimum of 3 years within that profession
  • Masters level qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy, accredited with UKCP OR within the final year of training
  • UKCP registration which is maintained through meeting relevant AFT CPD requirements

Desirable

  • Systemic Supervisor Training or a willingness to work towards
  • Post-qualification training in one or more additional specialised
  • areas of therapeutic practice

Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and expertise in child and adolescent mental health and the assessment and treatment common mental health problems
  • Knowledge of the systemic literature pertaining to the specialist
  • areas relevant to the post including the evidence base for the systemic
  • assessment and intervention
  • Highly developed skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration

Desirable

  • Experience of working with those with a diagnosis of an eating disorder
  • Preferably have experience in working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and a well-developed understanding of how such conditions may interact with eating disorders
  • Experience of working in outpatient/ family settings, managing the highly complex emotional relationships within and between the component parts of the family CAMHS system in ways, which maximise the potential for therapeutic outcomes
