Job summary

We are looking for a creative and dynamic communications specialist to lead the delivery of the communication and engagement objectives of the Learning Disabilities and Autism (LDA) Collaborative - a partnership of local authority, NHS and voluntary sector organisations committed to working together to transform outcomes for autistic people and people with learning disabilities, across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR).This contract will be for 12 months.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside inspirational individuals and organisations who are transforming care for autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Due to the work of the LDA Collaborative much progress has already been achieved and we are now one of the top performing areas in the country.

Main duties of the job

You will take responsibility for communications and engagement for the LDA Collaborative including the development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of a range of communications and engagement strategies and projects, including campaigns, events and engagement activities.

You will provide communications and public relations advice and leadership to ensure excellent reputation and stakeholder management will be a key element of this role. This will include working with local communities, experts by experience, carers, care provider organisations, service users and staff.

You will also be the primary point of contact with the media, researching and writing media releases and statements both proactively and reactively. Your ability tostimulate, facilitate and capture stories and the voice of autistic people and people with learning disabilities will be another key element of this role.
