Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the mental health rehabilitation pathway offering support and mental health rehabilitation focused interventions for adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties during their admission to inpatient areas.

We have a full time vacancy for an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) for a fixed term 2 year temporary vacancy at Stewart House, LE19 4SL. You will be joining our well established, friendly and supportive team.

You will work within an MDT team with Band 6 and Band 5 Occupational Therapists and existing Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistants to provide ongoing appropriate OT Assessments and interventions to patients using Functional, Psycho-social, Cognitive, Sensory and Physical Health approaches.

You will assist the Occupational Therapists (OT) to deliver mental health interventions identified by the OTs and wider MDT to help patients meet their individual goals, using evidence-based interventions / treatments.

You will assist the OTs in delivering individual treatment plans which enable service users to develop or maintain their functional / cognitive skills and abilities using graded or adaptive strategies at all stages of their recovery.

You will contribute to the multidisciplinary team in managing risk and risk assessment.

Working as a team ensures we deliver high quality therapeutic care to Patients who are in recovery on the rehabilitation pathway.

Main duties of the job

The post is a temporary fixed term 2 year contract, full time position 37.5 hours per week 8.00 to 4.00 Monday to Friday. The expected period of employment to cover the vacancy is December 2023 to December 2025, dependent on HR / DBS checks being completed.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and be able to interact effectively with team members from all disciplines.
  • Ability to cope with unpredictable situations at times.

  • Experience of working with clients with complex mental health conditions.
  • Experience of working within an Occupational Therapy Team.
  • Care Certificate qualification.
  • Experience of facilitating group work or 1:1 activity interventions such as arts, craft, cooking, gardening, sports.
