Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Leicester Partnership NHS Trust to join our Medical Devices team. The medical devices team sits within the Estates and Facilities Directorate. The team manages the repair and maintenance of medical devices within the trust.

We are looking for a motivated and self-disciplined support officer, who can take the initiative and deliver a quality service ensuring life-saving medical devices are available to ward areas when and where required. You will be based at the Unit 2 Meridian Way, Leicester, LE19 1WY but will be expected to drive to other sites therefore will need access to a vehicle for work purposes and a valid driving licence.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for completing verification audits and using project management skills to ensure medical devices across all LPT services are serviced, maintained, calibrated and provided in sufficient quantities to ensure compliance and improve patient safety outcomes.
  • Create and develop a robust annual auditing programme to ensure LPT are meeting current medical device and health and safety legislative requirements, and CQC Fundamental Standards 12, 15 and 17.
  • Required to work across community and mental health inpatient locations, community services and primary care.
  • Provide advice and support services to implement asset management improvements.
  • Provide regular audit and project updates to the Medical Devices Group, identifying gaps in compliance and providing assurance where improvements have been achieved.
  • Clear report writing combined with excellent interpersonal skills are a key requirement of this role.
  • You will possess a can do attitude, have a flexible work style and a friendly approachable manner. The ability to problem solve and think on your feet in the ever changing environment of medical device asset management is essential.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear report writing
  • IM&T literate, able to use and fully exploit Microsoft Office packages i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Internet Explorer
  • Diplomatic and tactful, particularly when receiving and imparting information of a sensitive, contentious or confidential nature including complex information of a highly confidential commercial nature
