We have a Catering Assistant vacancy working at Hinckley and Bosworth Community Hospital within our Estates and Facilities Directorate.

As a Catering Assistant you will provide a comprehensive catering service and duties include preparation and regeneration of patient meals at ward level on a daily basis.

You will assist in the service of food and beverage to a range of customers and undertake general cleaning and food safety duties within the catering department, or other areas of the trust when working on hospitality.

Main duties of the job

All roles will provide a range of duties across our Trust sites and support services to ensure a safe, efficient and effective service to all patients, staff and visitors is delivered.

Catering Assistant Duties

  • Service of food and beverage to a range of customers
  • Preparation and regeneration of patient meals
  • Check stock deliveries into the catering department and complete the appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure stock is dated and stock rotation procedures are observed
  • Promote and maintain point of sale, e.g counter and vending machines
  • Taking and recording of food temperatures and seeking further instruction where these are outside appropriate temperature limits

We are recruiting across various sites and some roles will be mobile therefore may not suitable for public transport but if you live within Leicester one of the sites may be within your community.

  • General education to GCSE level or equivalent including English, Maths
  • Able to understand verbal and written instruction
  • Basic Food Hygiene Level 2

Desirable

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate 3 and above

Experience

  • Experience of working in a restaurant environment.
  • Planning and organisation of daily / weekly work tasks/activities.
  • Awareness of safe working practices
  • Understand how to prevent the spread of infections.
  • Good personal hygiene practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills
  • Experience with COSHH and HACCP
