Job summary

Support Worker to the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Band 4 37.5 hours per week.

This is a unique opportunity to support the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion who is registered blind. This is a senior admin role for someone who is looking for a job with a difference combining administrative responsibilities with specialist support to someone who has no sight.

The job offers variety, flexibility and is based within a high performing service area. If you have very competent administration skills, are caring and would like to empower the Head of EDI to be able to work at his best then we would encourage you to apply for this role. The post holder will need to be able to occasionally drive the Head of EDI to any meetings within the Leicestershire area. At all other times the post holder will be able to work from home, or if preferred in the office.

Main duties of the job

1. To assist the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion by reading aloud, paraphrasing, or summarising documents, statistical information and tables, either in person or by recording on tape and by describing pictures and graphs and other visual representations of information.

2. To assist the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in getting to meetings, seminars and conferences, sometimes away from the work base, by car or public transport.

3. To assist the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion during meetings, seminars and conferences e.g. by acting as a guide and being proactive in helping the Head Equality, Diversity and Inclusion to network.

4. To assist in note taking at meetings for the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

5. To assist the Head of Equality, in the establishment and maintenance of recording and filing systems related to the role.

6. To adapt/ convert materials to an appropriate format for the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion as required.
