Job summary
The Beacon Inpatient CAMHS Unit is a 15-bedded facility located in the grounds of Glenfield Hospital, in the north of the city. A 46 week assessment takes place of the young persons mental health needs here. As part of the assessment team, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant.
You will be working alongside an Occupational Therapist in assessing the OT needs of the children and adolescents on the ward. As part of the role, you need to be creative, flexible and be a good time manager. Communication skills are essential in order to establish therapeutic relationships with the young people and their families.
The role is extremely rewarding as you will be enabling young people to reach their occupational goals and support them in their mental health recovery.
Main duties of the job
The role requires you to support the implementation of care plans, facilitate 1:1 and group work interventions, as well as supporting the young people with functional skill development.
Applicants with previous experience working with children and young people would be desirable but not essential. Some understanding of sensory needs and mental health would also be ideal.
An awareness of the role of the Occupational Therapist and the importance of meaningful occupation such as leisure, education and self care is desirable.
You will be directly supervised by the Occupational Therapist, with access to reflective practice and wider support from the CAMHS OT team.
Some of what we can offer includes:
- Flexibility in support of your lifestyle
- Development and training opportunities
- On-going support from an experienced team
- Free parking
