Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled Principal Psychologist to join our Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT). You will have a doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology, HCPC registration, and significant experience working with adults with complex mental health difficulties. You should be confident in providing specialist assessment, formulation, and evidence based interventions, and able to offer psychological leadership, consultation, and trauma informed care to colleagues. The ideal candidate will be resilient, adaptable, and committed to delivering high quality, person centred care in acute settings.

This role involves leading the psychological provision within the CRHTT, providing specialist assessment, formulation, and interventions for a clinical caseload, and supporting the development of psychologically informed care across acute and secondary services. You will work closely with the CRHTT multidisciplinary team, managers, and external partners, and contribute to service development, audit, research, and training.

Based within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, you will be part of a skilled MDT, collaborating with acute and community services. Main duties of the job

Provide clinical leadership and direction in applied psychology for home treatment team services.

Deliver specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and interventions for adults in crisis.

Offer advice, consultation, and supervision to colleagues and other professionals.

Lead psychologically informed care planning, risk assessment, and trauma informed practice.

Support service development, audit, research, and policy changes.

Provide teaching, training, and supervision to psychologists, trainees, and non-psychologists.

Promote user and carer involvement in care planning, recruitment, and service evaluation.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (including specific models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychological assessments, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan development psychology as accredited by the BPS or postgraduate training in Forensic Psychology or Counselling Psychology)
  • Current registration as a Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council

Desirable

  • Completion of further post qualification training within psychological therapies (e.g., DBT, CBT, CAT, CFT, MBT etc)
  • Completion of further post qualification training in supervision
