We are looking for experienced Mental Health Nurses and/or Social Workers to join our very well-established Young Persons (8 to 18) Eating Disorders Service.
You will play an important role providing specialist assessments, care planning and a range of evidence-based interventions.
You will also support the experienced clinical and operational leadership team with leadership tasks and oversight of specific areas of responsibility.
This will be a varied role working as part of a multidisciplinary team and with professionals across agencies. You will deliver care and support to people from a community base and hospitals, and where required, to people in their own homes, as part of our daily intensive treatment pathway.
Role Summary:
We are based in 2 hubs, the North (covering Oldham, Bury and HMR) and the South (covering Stockport, Trafford and T&G). This post will be based in the North hub at Bury.
The post holder will provide mental health assessment, including assessment of eating disorder and offer a wide range of psycho-therapeutic evidenced based interventions for children, young people, and families, supported by clinical outcome measures.
The post holder will also provide professional clinical supervision and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other practitioners and contribute to the leadership of the service under the direction of the Ops Manager and Clinical Lead.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibility of the Post:
- To ensure high quality CAMHS and eating disorder assessment of children, young people and families referred to the CED service.
- To provide specialist psychological assessment for children and young people.
- To autonomously formulate and implement psychological and physical treatment plans.
- To carry a case load within the CEDs service and offer specific treatment modalities.
- To undertake risk assessment and management.
- Contribute and carry out clinical audits of service performance.
- To provide consultation and training.
- To engage in/deliver managerial and clinical supervision.
- To provide specialist advice and consultation.
- Work as a co-therapist where appropriate.

The postholder will provide mental health assessments, including assessment of eating disorder and offer a wide range of psycho therapeutic evidenced based interventions for children, young people and families, supported by clinical outcome measures.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
CLINICAL
- To ensure high quality CAMHS and eating disorder assessment of children, young people and families referred to the CED service
- To provide specialist psychological assessments for children and young people referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data form a variety of sources including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews.
- To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of children and young peoples mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the children and young peoples problems, and employing methods of proven efficacy.
- To carry a case load within the CED and offer a specific treatment modality that enhances the range of treatments offered by the service.
- To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers and families and groups, adjusting and refining formulations.
- To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of children and young people with eating problems whose problems are managed by psychologically based plans.
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual children and young people and to provide specialist advice to other professionals on aspects of risk assessment and management of eating disorders.
- Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback, as required or directed.
- To provide consultation and training on a wide range of childrens emotional health, well-being and eating disorder issues to professionals, from a range of services including GPs, Primacy Care Services, Adult Mental Health Services, Education Services and Paediatric services.
- To engage in/deliver managerial and clinical supervision, including with appropriate consent, recording and reviewing of live clinical work.
- As required, provide specialist advice and consultation to other professionals /individuals/groups across Mental Health Trust, CCG, LA, Acute Trust and other Third Sector agencies regarding service matters related to the practice and delivery of specific agreed therapeutic modalities and service provision.
- To provide consultation to influence the provision of a high standard of support to children and families from other child and adolescent professionals and partner agencies.
- Work as a co-therapist where appropriate with other members of the MDT.
- To be responsible for and manage a defined caseload and undertake case management responsibilities within the caseload.
- Undertake liaison and joint work with other professionals outside of the MDT.

- To take part in the CED - CYP emergency duty rota in order to provide urgent assessment of children and young people presenting with eating disorder in line with Pennine care protocols to both advise other professionals regarding risk and work with them to develop a plan of care for the child. This will involve the need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including evening and weekend working as required.
- Ensure collection of relevant information, data and outcome measures required by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and its commissioners.
