Speciality Doctor - Home Treatment Team (HTT), Oldham.(10 PAs)
Job description is pending Royal College approval
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality mental health and learning disability services, both inpatient and in the community across five boroughs of Greater Manchester - Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside and Glossop. Our vision is for a happier and more hopeful life for everyone in the communities we serve. Our 3,600 dedicated staff have big ambitions, focussing on what we do best and building on our roots in our diverse communities to maximise people's potential.
The Home Treatment Team (HTT) is based at Parklands within the Royal Oldham Hospital site in Oldham and is next to the Access Team, Health Support Team and inpatient wards.
Main duties of the job
HTT's main role is to act as an alternative to admission, with active treatment in the community as well as supporting those in crisis for short periods of support (usually around 7 days). We also support patients from the ward (supported discharge and leave) as well as support community initiation of Clozapine when required. Occasionally we will also support other HTT patients when they move into our catchment area of Oldham.
The main role of the SAS post is to support the HTT in medical management, which includes reviews, discussions and supporting the two Board Rounds in the team on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. You will be based in the open plan HTT office with an enthusiastic and dedicated team (Team of the Year 2023 in the trust) of clinicians with an active manager (Nichola Madders), Clinical Leads (Tony and Chelsea), and a range of Band 6 and 5 practitioners as well as a pharmacist two days of the week. We are due to have our psychologist join us shortly.
About us
You will be supervised by Dr Nihal Fernando, Consultant Psychiatrist, who is full time and always keen to engage, teach and support. You will have one session for CPD and have weekly dedicated supervision.
We have had a number of IMG and others in this post over the last 7 years and all have gone on to further their careers and to also return to the trust as consultants. Your development is a key part of the work.
