Locum Consultant Working Age Psychiatry
We are seeking a knowledgeable, driven, and forward-thinking consultant to join our sector-based team in Tameside. The post can be 8 to 10 PAs. The holder will be responsible for inpatients and outpatients from Dukinfield and parts of Denton and will work closely with the West CMHT. This is a replacement post due to staff retirement and reconfiguration of sectors.
Main duties of the job
The post covers Dukinfield, part of Denton, which is part of the CMHT catchment area and will be responsible for all psychiatric patients in their sector.The post holder will attend weekly referral meetings with CMHT management, on average three per week. You will take a lead role in decision making regarding the referrals for your sector and work closely with CMHT. You will conduct a weekly ward round, working with the ward MDT. Estimated workload for this sector: Inpatient caseload: 4-7 inpatients Outpatient caseload: Around 150 patients No. of outpatients per week in clinic between consultant and junior doctor clinics 20-25 follow-ups, 1-2 new patients. Consultants provide advice and liaison to the acute Trust for patients in their own sector. Inpatients are admitted to two wards located at Tameside General Hospital site. The number of inpatients/lengths of stay varies. The clinical responsibility for out of area admissions are allocated on a rota basis. The post holder will share access to facilities within the service and work closely with members of the MDT. The post holder will negotiate a timetable with the Line Manager. The post-holder will have a lead role in the MDT, in respect to individual cases and in respect to the overall functioning and clinical targeting of the team. This will include Clinical leadership of the team, management of complex cases including care plan and treatment formulation plus guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness
