We have several Locally Employed Doctors posts available and applications are invited for the 2 month fixed term Post in Cherrywood outpatients unit and Aspen/Oak inpatients unit at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Manchester; starting as soon as possible. This post would ideally suit those who have previous experience of Psychiatry, or those without but who want to try out Psychiatry prior to CT1/ST application. The Trust will help appointees with their application for Speciality Training. The Education Programmes are mandatory throughout the Trust. This post offers an excellent introduction to Psychiatry.The Consultant body has a variety of special interests and there are many opportunities for the trainees to look into and further expand their knowledge and experience with discussion with their consultant. Areas of special interest include, amongst other: Forensic and Rehabilitation, Liaison, Community Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry including Inpatient CAMHS Services (Regional), New Ways of Working, Information Technology and Service Redesign. Main duties of the job
o The bulk of clinical work will be within a Consultant Led team based at your designated hospital site. Joint assessments with the Community Mental Health Team, & the Crisis Resolution Team where appropriate, may take place at the patients home address, as well as hospital departments such as A&E.o On-call covers the adult in-patient wards as well as Young Person's Unit (16-17 year olds) if appropriate, and Older Age Wards (>65's), & any Specialty Units (Rehabilitation Units etc) as well as working with the Crisis Team in A&E. All these are in the main hospital site.o The LED post holder will be expected to accumulate their own out-patient load from new referrals & help out with known patients in out-patients, & pick up ongoing patient management through the community teams as appropriate.o The LED is expected to contribute to the bio psychosocial model of care with the other members of the multi-disciplinary team. This includes history taking, mental state examination of all patients & the physical examination of outpatients where appropriate. The treatments may be physical, pharmacological psychological & social as appropriate. There is a strong emphasis on the recovery model, & as such the trainee will be encouraged to formulate management plans accordingly.o On-call rota is full shift 1:9, 1:11, 1:18 dependant on the borough. There are consultants on-call for general psychiatry & old age psychiatry, & CAMHS
