Job summary

The GM Resilience Hub (GMRH), part of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust (PC), is seeking to make a part time appointment to this new post. The post holder will have a key role in developing this innovative new service across the Integrated Care System of Greater Manchester (GM), which will inform the development of services for survivors of sexual assault and abuse nationally.

The appointee will be working with specialist sexual violence services in the City region:

  • Manchester Action on Street Health (MASH)
  • GM Manchester Rape Crisis
  • Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), St Marys, Manchester NHS FT
  • Survivors Manchester
  • Trafford Rape Crisis

As part of a multi-disciplinary mental health team. In addition to reporting to the NHS England specialised commissioning national team this new service will also have a reporting line to the GM Gender Based Violence Board.

This is a substantive appointment.

Main duties of the job

Liaison role with no direct clinical contact

Participation in MDT/Panel meetings

Liaising with professionals across primary and secondary care in relation to complex mental health care planning

liaising with GPs on medication prescribing

Providing CPD for partners

Will not offer assessment/diagnosis

Will not do any direct prescribing

About us

The Greater Manchester Resilience Hub is a unique, all age, mental health coordination service established after the Manchester Arena Attack on 22nd May 2017 since which a number of different programs have been commissioned.

The broad aims of this Pathfinder Partnership service are to:

  • create and improve pathways and partnership working approaches to the benefit of individuals with complex trauma related mental health needs associated with sexual assault and abuse;
  • improve access to professionals trained in identification of, and appropriate response to, complex trauma related mental health needs associated with sexual assault and abuse;
  • for individuals with complex trauma related mental health needs the primary aim is to reduce complex trauma related symptoms and improve quality of life (improve individual wellbeing, reduce mental health symptomology, minimise harm and re-traumatisation, improve functioning (including social and occupational) and support healing and recovery);
  • encourage establishment of trauma-informed systems that have impact beyond this service;
  • build evidence base for the value of new approaches.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Principal Duties

  • Clinical

The post holder will deliver a trauma and psychologically informed service for survivors referred to the Pathfinder service who would benefit from a psychiatry liaison intervention. This will include people with significant complexity/risk and polypharmacy. They will be expected to work with the wider MDT to develop cohesive care plans which take into account the persons biopsychosocial formulation, goals and input from the referring specialist service as well as the wider health and social care system.

  • Liaison

The post holder will liaise with the clinicians and managers in the 5 specialist services. This will include participating in MDT meetings. There may also be liaison with clinicians working across primary and secondary care including medical and nursing staff, social care professionals and allied health professionals. This may also include liaison with legal and criminal justice services.

  • Education & training

This will involve identifying the learning needs of the Pathfinder MDT, specialist services partners and the wider mental health services in GM and working with colleagues to develop suitable educational and training approach for a variety of formats and settings. The post holder will deliver occasional sessions into the Local Education Programmes at GMMH and PC on an ad hoc basis. In addition, there will be opportunities to deliver sessions at national events to share learning from the Pathfinder.

  • Management and Service Development

The post holder will attend relevant project planning and review meetings as needed to support the on-going clinical evaluation and development of the clinical model and related care pathways

  • Evaluation

In addition to the collection of some standard outcome measures and health care utilization data, some new victim/survivor-led, experience and outcome measures will be developed and reviewed as part of the Pathfinder. The amount and impact of educational activity will be evaluated. This will link in with audit agendas. There are good opportunities for involvement in research, linking in with our local universities (University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Salford).

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
  • MRCPsych
  • CCT in General Adult psychiatry with endorsement in Liaison psychiatry

ELIGIBILITY

Essential

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT
  • Approved Clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment

  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
