Job summary

NHS Stockport Talking Therapies (Pennine Care) is part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Programme and offers assessment and treatment for people referred via their GP or through a self referral pathway, with common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. The service works with adults aged 16 and above, from various backgrounds.The service is made up of a multidisciplinary team, including Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Counsellors, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, EMDR therapists and Psychotherapists.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role

The role requires a Diploma in Low Intensity Psychological interventions or evidence of nearing successful completion of an accredited PWP training course.

The PWP role is highly valued and seen as an integral part of what we do. Our PWPs provide suitability assessments and evidence based Low Intensity CBT interventions through face to face, telephone and digital methods. We offer 1:1 appointments, workshops and online treatments.

The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to recognising and valuing diversity and providing equal opportunities for all.

We are keen to develop the skills of our PWPs and there are opportunities to get involved in exciting and innovative projects and identifying areas of special interest.

We offer regular in house training to ensure that ongoing support and skills development is provided.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and spoken communication skills along with the ability to work flexibly.

Essential

  • Qualification from PWP Training Course (Post Graduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course) or
  • an experienced and qualified graduate mental health worker with a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Mental Health Care

Desirable

  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
  • Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree.
