Job summary
Stansfield Place is an 12 bedded male step-down relationally secure unit for woman with severe mental illness and complex needs, situated on the Tameside general Hospital site, Buckton building.
The unit aims to provide intensive rehabilitation, based upon a gender sensitive approach to care. Our objective is to enhance life skills and community functioning, support them to effectively manage risk behavior's, reduce relapses and maximise their independence.
Stansfield Place is situated in the Rochdale area, with good transport links to Oldham, Bury, Manchester and Rochdale town Centre. The expected pathway for service users is 2 years but this can vary, dependent on progress.
Main duties of the job
- With the referral team and Responsible Clinician, undertake assessment of patients referred for Female step-down services and feedback as required
- Undertake comprehensive risk assessment and formulate risk management plans with Service Users, their families and carers
- Assist the Unit Manager in developing a service that will ensure that the needs of patients are met with regard to their age, spiritual, cultural, ethnic and sexual orientation
- To assist the Unit Manager with the on-going development of the unit. In the absence of the manager, undertake responsibility for the day to day running of the unit
- In consultation with the multi-disciplinary team, ensure high standards of individual care for patients and that they are fully consulted and involved in every aspect of their care
- To provide management supervision to members of staff.
- To conduct annual appraisals/IPDRs for staff members
- To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and both statutory and non-statutory organizations involved with client care
- To assist the Unit Manager in ensuring high quality of evidence-based practice is carried out by all staff within the unit. Management of ensuring practice is in line with NICE guidelines, work with RHS quality team to ensure best practice is evident and work with Pennine Care policies.
- To participate in the recruitment process, as required.
