Low frequency on-call (1 in 30) with full second tier on call and 1 day off after your on call.

The Oldham Mental Health inpatient service is located at Parklands House, Royal Oldham Hospital. There are two 22-bedded admission wards for adult patients aged 18-64. The wards are single-sex and are the first such wards in the trust in keeping with developments and CQC requirements.
Main duties of the job
The post holder's responsibilities will include ensuring that patients are admitted in accordance with agreed gatekeeping procedures; that newly admitted patients receive a thorough and prompt assessment; that patients are reviewed regularly as needed, usually being seen face-to-face by the consultant; that the MHA Code of Practice is followed appropriately; and that care and effective treatment is organised on a multidisciplinary basis, drawing in community-based staff and making safe arrangements for discharge and the transfer of information.
It is expected that work relating to the MHA will take up a significant proportion of the consultant's time.
The consultant will have the full-time support of one staff grade doctor (or one Advanced Practitioner) and 1-2 GP trainees and either an FY or Physician Associate. In addition there is a student AP on one of the wards. The consultant will provide clinical supervision and training for the junior doctors and middle grade/AP in the team.
