Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic dynamic motivated individuals who are passionate about making a difference to young peoples lives. This is a new role as part of the new national project to provide Mental Health Support Teams in schools.

This service will help to reduce disadvantage by intervening early. As part of a new team you will be empowered to shape and build the service. You will help build and sustain working relationships, both with your colleagues and the wider network.

Above all we have a desire to develop a service where we can nurture and support staff to have a long term career in CAMHS.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an integral part of the MHST within Tameside and Glossop. You will use your clinical skills to listen to the needs of the child and family to provide meaningful evidence based interventions, that can demonstrate clinical change.

You will support staff in schools and colleges to help the whole system develop an understanding of how to work together to improve health and mental wellbeing. There are 4 band 6 posts available for the service across Tameside and Glossop

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To provide or provide access to CBT/CBT informed interventions in accordance with individual assessed need. This will include the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of a variety of therapeutic approaches either alone or as a member of the MDT
  • To contribute to the development and provision of services to children and young people.
  • To perform all aspects of the role in accordance with Trust policies and other national bodies.AFC 9/9/20 JME-091-20 MHST Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Band 6
  • To engage in / deliver managerial and clinical supervision, including with appropriate consent, recording and reviewing of live clinical work.
  • To routinely monitor effectiveness of clinical work by use of Routine Outcome Measures (ROM) and where outcomes are not improving for children and families to engage in clinical review via peer review meetings and supervision.
  • To work with a defined caseload of service users as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing assessment, care planning and care delivery for service users with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This will include the provision of highly skilled professional care, psychological interventions, group work, clinical assessment, risk assessments / risk management, and promoting recovery and inclusion and ensuring co- production with service users, families and carers and the education staff.
  • To identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the child and others in line with Pennine care and Camhs procedures and protocols.
  • To provide specialist advice to other members of staff and trainees and act as a role model.
  • To liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and outside agencies in the implementation of patient care.
  • To ensure that care activities are research based and in keeping with changes in the field of activity.
  • To contribute to the development of ideas and innovative practice and propose changes to protocols and procedures within the mental health support team and CAMHS where required.
  • To initiate and participate in departmental audit as requested by the Team Manager or Quality Improvement Lead.
  • Ensure collection of relevant information required by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust
  • To participate in the Duty rota on a weekly basis.Managerial and Administrative
  • To attend team, clinical, business and other meetings as required.
  • To manage own workload and time effectively.To undertake accurate record keeping.To provide and enter data for local information management systems.To contribute to peer supervision within the Healthy Young Minds team and within community Camhs.
  • To receive regular clinical management and when required Safeguarding supervision and to participate in appraisal.
  • To participate in the development of education and training programmes.
  • To maintain own education and awareness of current developments within Camhs.
