Registered Mental Health Nurse Band 6 Development Role.

Are you a registered mental health nurse looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to develop into a band 6 role.

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is excited to offer a newly created Registered Mental Health Nurse development role. The role is designed to support and develop existing band 5 mental health nurses to become a competent and confident band 6 practitioner.

We are looking for dynamic mental health nurses who want to join the adult acute inpatient teams at Tameside.

You will Join the team as a band 5 RMN and will receive a training and development incentive throughout your development opportunity (6 to 12 months) and be salary matched to AFC pay band 6. There will then be an opportunity to remain on the ward as a permanent band 6 if you successfully complete the required training competencies within 6 to 12 months of commencing with the team.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to undertake the roles and responsibilities of a band 5 nurse whilst engaging with enhanced supervision, additional training and leadership development to transition from a band 5 RMN to a successful band 6 RMN who will be required to provide leadership and support to the in-patient nursing team.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team you will provide direct, safe and effective care to patients with a variety of mental health problems. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care; adhere to all trust policies, procedures and guidelines.

To actively participate in multi-disciplinary meetings and contribute to clinical decisions regarding clients in your care. To manage caseloads effectively, making the best use of time and resources. To ensure that any unresolved issues for clients and their relatives/carers are identified and referred to the appropriate personnel. To keep accurate and timely professional records of nursing care, ensuring confidentiality is maintained. To assist in the development of service standards and clinical audit. To participate in development and implementation of new initiatives, incorporating researched based practices. To participate in clinical supervision.

Education and Development To participate in programmes of personal development based on agreedobjectives. Management To report to ward manager / deputy ward manager as appropriate You will be responsible for administrative duties on the ward as delegated by the Ward Manager. In consultation with the Ward Manager establish priorities in work load and organise working day to make effective use of resources. To deal with complaints from clients and relatives in accordance with Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust Complaints Procedure. To participate in ward meetings and Task Groups as requested. Participate in supervision, advice and support for team members.This job description is not exhaustive, but is intended to give an overall picture of the role. Once performance / training objectives have been set, the staff members progress will be reviewed on a regular basis, so that new objectives can be agreed and set, in order to maintain progress in the service delivery. The post holder will be expected to take responsibility for their own professional development and will be supported by the Trust to achieve development opportunities as appropriate.
