Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join our CAMH Service in Tameside and Glossop. We are looking to recruit a Senior Mental Health Practitioner & would be especially keen to hear from individuals with an interest in working in several of our pathways including, neurodevelopmental pathways (ADHD and ASC),16-18 pathways & duty management. You will join an existing team of 6 SMHP Team Leaders. Will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support other staff in the service, to contribute to the general oversight of day-to-day service operations & also to drive forward and shape ongoing service developments. T&G CAMHS is a forward-thinking service, taking pride in a history of innovative service development. Examples include being home to the long-established Early Attachment Service. Recent investment has also enabled the creation of an innovative training, consultation and therapeutic service co-located within Childrens Social Care which takes a relationship-focussed & trauma-informed approach to the integration of specialist clinical skills within a quality Family Intervention Service working at all levels of the Child Protection Framework. Significant new investment is facilitating considerable expansion of our service, & we are actively seeking to recruit enthusiastic, hard-working individuals to a range of roles within our service. Main duties of the job

To strive to support the development and delivery of an excellent CAMHS service in Tameside and Glossop.

To undertake high quality mental health assessments, including risk assessment, formulation, intervention and outcome monitoring with the users of our service. To support with the management and supervision of other staff.

To offer training and consultation both internally and externally to other agencies where appropriate.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of clinical practice within the team.

To utilise skills to support service evaluation and service development as appropriate.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To ensure high quality CAMHS clinical assessment of young people and their families referred to the Single Point of
  • To manage and clinically supervise CAMHS practitioners in managing their own
  • To be responsible for and manage a (reduced) defined caseload (as agreed with Operational Manager) and undertake key-worker responsibilities within the caseload, making autonomous decisions concerning service delivery, risk management, referrals to other agencies and
  • To make independent clinical decisions about the appropriate therapeutic interventions for each young person, in accordance with individual assessed need, and to provide or provide access to this intervention, including those young people with learning
  • To undertake individual Cognitive Behavioural work or other evidence-based therapies with young people as
  • To work with families/carers of young people experiencing mental health
  • To identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the young person and others in line with Pennine Care procedures and .
  • To liaise closely with a wide range of agencies regarding individual care
  • To advise on risk management and to promote awareness of Child and Adolescent Mental Health issues within these
  • To provide / delegate professional, managerial and clinical supervision to workers within the CAMHS service.
  • To contribute to peer supervision and peer review of cases and in conjunction with the CAMHS Operational Manager to ensure that own supervision needs are
  • To support other agencies working with young people in Tameside and Glossop e. Childrens Social Care, CYP crisis care pathway to facilitate their ability to support presenting mental health needs in children and young people.
  • To provide interventions in a range of HYM care
  • To provide consultation and training on a wide range of childrens emotional health and well-being issues to professionals from a range of services including GPs, Early Help and Primary Care Services, Adult Mental Health Services, Youth Offending Services and Education
  • To engage in / deliver managerial and clinical supervision, including with appropriate consent, recording and reviewing of live clinical
  • Ensure collection of relevant information required by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust
  • To routinely monitor effectiveness of clinical work by use of Routine Outcome Measures (ROM) and where outcomes are not improving for children and families to engage in clinical review via peer review meetings and supervision.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • oUKCC nursing or Diploma in social work
  • oRegistered Nurse - Mental Health (RMN), or Learning Disability, Registered Sick Children's Nurse, Registered Adult Nurse (General Nursing and Enrolled Nursing is insufficient)
  • oNMC or HCPC registration

Experience

Essential

  • Highly Developed Knowledge of mental health issues in young people
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and National Policies in relation to children and young people.
  • Highly developed knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions with this client group

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of working with young people with learning disability
  • Evidence of Post qualifying training courses / certificates
