Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Clinical Psychologist with an interest in working with infants and their families. The post holder will have extensive clinical experience and demonstrable skills in service development.

The post holder will be based in the new Oldham Early Attachment service (EAS), a Parent Infant mental Health team working with infants and their families in the antenatal and postnatal period. The EAS is an under 2s service providing a clinical therapeutic offer, training, consultation, and supervision across the large multi-agency network of mixed professionals. The service has extensive links with Health Visiting, Maternity Services, Neonatal services, Children's Centers, Adult Mental Health, Voluntary sector and Children's Social Care, etc.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the 'Right Start' service, providing monthly group supervision to the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP), Health Visitors, Assistant Practitioners and Additional Educational Needs Advisors. The post holder will support the roll out of the supervision model across the Health Visiting service. You will work as a highly specialist practitioner developing and implementing a community based therapeutic service to parents to be, infants and their families with a particular focus on early intervention. You will provide assessment and treatment of parents/carers and infants and their families.

The training and strategic development aspect of the role involves acting as a specialist resource, contributing to training of Health Visitors and Early Years practitioners across Oldham. The post holder will be expected to offer consultation and clinical supervision to professional colleagues and help to develop the PIMH offer across the borough.

About us

The Early Attachment Service was launched in December 2021 and is a small multidisciplinary team which includes a Clinical Psychologist, a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, a Specialist Health Visitor, a Therapeutic Social Worker and a Team Administrator. You will be joining a passionate team who work closely with the wider network to support families in the antenatal and postnatal period. Supervision and joint working is prioritised and you will have opportunities to develop your clinical skills and interests with additional specialist training.

To actively participate in PIMH weekly presentation, referral, CPD and business meetings.
To attend and contribute as an independent clinician to multidisciplinary and multi-agency meetings as appropriate.

Service development

In collaboration with others, to contribute to the development of Under 2s PIMH service across Oldham.
Under the direction of the Oldham PIMH Clinical Lead contribute to development and planning of Under 2s service in PIMH and CAMHS Service.
To communicate and work with other staff and agencies including CAMHS, adult mental health, early years, education, children social services and voluntary sector agencies, to provide an integrated and accessible service for Under 2s.

Supervision and Training

To provide monthly supervision to the Family Nurse Partnership service.

To contribute to pre and post qualification training and supervision for clinical psychologists where appropriate.
