Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist - Stockport CAMHS - 8 PA's

This is a substantive new post for which 8 PA's are available.

The post holder will provide specialist out-patient and consultation services to children and young people up to the age of 18 years in a community CAMHS service. Based at Stockport CAMHS, you will join 4 other Consultant colleagues within the Stockport CAMHS team and will also interface with other agencies including the Local Authority, Paediatrics and Working Age Adult services.

Role Summary:

The post holder will provide a generic mental health service to children and adolescents up to their 18th birthday. You will manage a cohort of children and young people with a wide range of mental health needs. Working as part of a multi disciplinary team you will have responsibility for direct clinical work, supervision, helping to lead in management of referrals, effective multi-agency liaison with various relevant departments and undertaking local strategic management tasks as appropriate to the post. You will have excellent clinical leadership and communication skills. You will also have strong interest and experience in working with children and older adolescents.

About us

This is a post that has come up due to additional CCG investments as part of Comprehensive CAMHS offer.

The successful candidate will join a well-established and experienced Tier 3 Community CAMHS multidisciplinary team. They will join four other consultants, an SAS doctor and a core trainee providing psychiatric support to the team. From summer 2022 they will work at Stopford House, Stockport, the new service base for Stockport Tier 3 CAMHS.

The post holder will work as part of a comprehensive CAMHS team with special responsibility for designated clinical pathways as per further discussions and areas of interest.

The post is established and managed within the Trust's CAMHS Directorate, and the post holder will be joining a dynamic, supportive, and expanding Consultant group, now 21 in number and growing.

The post is suitable for an experienced Consultant, or a suitably qualified Speciality Trainee (ST6), who wishes to work with the team in the development of the Service.

  • To provide a psychiatric service for children and young people in Stockport.
