Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to work across three units within the Rehabilitation and High Support Care hub as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT). The post holder will have the support of an Assistant Psychologist and links have been made with Universities to offer a placement to a Trainee Clinical Psychologist where appropriate.

The role will involve working across three rehabilitation units; Beckett Place, a 10 bed unit for females aged 18-65 located at Tameside General Hospital, Rhodes Place, a 8 bed unit for females aged aged 18-65 located in Oldham, and Stansfield place, a 12 bed unit for males aged 18-65 located in Rochdale.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the promotion and management of high quality psychology input across both units. The post will require you to provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to service users who present with complex mental health problems, including psychosis; alongside a possible history of trauma, substance misuse and forensic histories.

You will be expected to attend multi-disciplinary meetings and to facilitate regular clinical discussion groups to offer the MDT reflective space, develop psychological formulations and provide bespoke training. In addition you will provide one-to-one clinical supervision to Psychologists and to other members of the MDT delivering psychological interventions. The post will require you to be involved in service developments, Quality Improvement projects and governance within the service as required.

You will also be part of a wider psychology team within the Rehabilitation and High Support Care Hub where there are opportunities for shared learning, training and peer supervision.

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology as accredited by the BPS and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Desirable

  • Further qualifications and / or training in a range of therapy models / interventions

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an inpatient setting (psychiatric rehabilitation / PICU / acute)
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions (individual and group) within an NHS mental health environment
  • Experience of working within multidisciplinary services in mental health providing therapy to service users with high levels of complexity
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision to other psychological therapists
