Job summary

£31,365 to £37,890 per annum, pro rata for part time

We are currently seeking experienced and accredited bank counsellors to join our innovative and nurturing mixed-modality team , which provides help through both individual and group work. We are an established and highly valued provision for all staff,operating flexibly from different locations and various times of the day online, by phone and in-person.

Main duties of the job

We offer mainly short-term, non-urgent support for mild to moderate difficulties including loss, anxiety, depression and trauma, and we provide regular supervision and close support. We would particularly welcome applications from male candidates as well as BAME and disabled candidates as they are under represented in our service.

All new starters to Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS) will be recharged for the full cost of the check. Substantive staff will have the amount deducted from their first months salary. Members to the Trust bank must repay the full amount from their first pay. The Trust encourages all staff and bank workers to register with the DBS update service at an annual cost of £13, for bank members this is obligatory. The cost of an enhanced DBS check is £40 and for a standard check £23, both attract an administration charge of £3.50.

Essential

  • Recognised Diploma / advanced Diploma in Counselling
  • Specific training in mindfulness-based approaches, e.g. Mindfulness Teacher Training Level 1 in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) or Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Desirable

  • Degree / Masters in counselling
  • Further qualifications and / or training in a range of therapy models / interventions
  • Further mindfulness training and development, e.g. attendance at relevant conferences, retreats or masterclasses

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant and demonstrable experience working as a counsellor with clients with a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • In depth personal experiences of main practices in Mindfulness based approaches (body scan, sitting practice, mindful movement)
  • On-going personal mindfulness practice.
  • Experience of group work and leading mindfulness practices and inquiry.
