Job summary
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Ward Administrator to join our inpatient mental health team based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire within the Older Peoples and Adults Directorate. This role would involve working within a mental health ward for Older People who are experiencing a mental health crisis or have a primary diagnosis of Dementia.
You would also be providing administrative support to the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team for Older People.
The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic, sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under considerable pressure at times.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a comprehensive administrative service within the team, providing efficient, effective and timely support for OPAC.
Such support will include liaison with Consultants, Modern Matrons, Trust staff and OPAC colleagues, to ensure effective communication and systems are maintained for the receipt and onward delivery of all administration duties

1. Provide comprehensive administrative support to the mental health wards and crisis teams, including the accurate preparation and management of correspondence, reports, and medical summaries, ensuring information is handled appropriately and within required timescales.2. Act as the first point of contact for staff, visitors, and external contacts, managing incoming telephone calls and enquiries professionally and within defined timescales. Receive, prioritise, and appropriately escalate messages from the public, health professionals, and partner agencies.3. Receive and process referrals onto the SystmOne caseload, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with information governance requirements. Maintain and update electronic referral tracking systems and caseload records to support service reporting and operational oversight.4. Manage referrals in line with agreed service criteria, taking appropriate action to decline referrals where necessary and providing clear, accurate signposting to alternative mental health services in accordance with Trust pathways and procedures.5. Maintain and update systems for recording patient admission, transfer, and discharge status, liaising closely with ward staff and the discharge planning team to ensure timely and accurate information to support patient flow and discharge planning
Ability to travel independently and in a timely manner across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to meet strict deadline.
