Job summary

CPFT is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician to join our expanding team. We are seeking a motivated, GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician to become part of our friendly and supportive service based at The Cavell Centre, Peterborough.

The successful candidate will work closely with our pharmacists and fellow technicians across inpatient mental health wards, delivering a range of clinical medicines management activities. In addition, the post holder will provide support to the dispensary as required, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Medicines Management Technician team is responsible for delivering a high-quality, comprehensive clinical medicines management service to the inpatient mental health wards on a day-to-day basis.

Our Clinical Medicines Management Technicians play a key role in supporting the ongoing development of the service. They act as a primary point of contact for any issues or queries related to this area of the pharmacy service, ensuring efficient communication and the smooth resolution of challenges as they arise.

  1. Coordinating the operational activities of the Clinical Medicines Management Technician service, ensuring the effective use of both technician and pharmacist time.
  2. Planning and allocating ward and team coverage across the medicines management technician workforce, ensuring appropriate prioritisation to maintain consistent and highquality service delivery.
  3. Providing education and training to student pharmacy technicians, foundation trainee pharmacists and pharmacy support workers involved in clinical medicines management activities.
  4. Identifying the need for, developing, reviewing and updating Standard Operating Procedures and related policy documents to ensure compliance with legal, professional and quality standards.
  5. Proposing, developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance clinical medicines management services, and managing any associated service or practice changes appropriately.
  6. Participating in medication history screening on wards, including problem solving and liaising with service users, carers, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
  7. Contributing to medicines management schemes on the wards, including patients own drugs (PODs), selfadministration, medicines reconciliation and nonstock topups.
