Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse post on Mulberry 2. Mulberry 2 is a 16 bedded acute mental health treatment ward.

At CPFT, our adult inpatient wards operate an exciting, ambitious model of care, known as the 3-3-3 model; focussed on providing the right care at the right time. The Cambridge Wards are known as the Mulberry Wards; Mulberry 1 our Acute Assessment Unit, where patients stay up to 3 days, Mulberry 2, our Treatment ward, where patients stay up to 3 weeks, and Mulberry 3, our Recovery Unit, where patients stay up to 3 months.

The team have invested heavily in the development of our staff. All staff will receive comprehensive training designed to support the operationalisation of the 3-3-3 model and the core skills required. In addition, our team actively support staff to access training and development opportunities

Main duties of the job

The wards bold model requires staff to have a commitment to teamwork, a sense of accountability, and an ability to work well under pressure when required.

If you are successful, we will support you in providing quality evidence-based nursing care for our service users with mental and physical health needs. As a staff nurse you will interact frequently with carers and families providing support and advice where appropriate.

You will be working as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and will be responsible for supporting and leading on the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care on a rotational shift basis. We will expect you to have a good level of knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision.

We will expect you to identify and contribute to the training needs of junior registered and unregistered staff and ensure that issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation.
