Hi, my name is Debbie Lewis, I am the Clinical Nurse Specialist here at The Beacon. The Beacon is a new community treatment Hub for Young people 13-18 years who are experiencing an eating disorder.We know that collaborative care with young people and their families is a key part of recovery which is why our programme and approach is designed to work in partnership with families therefore the Nursing Associate will be supported to work with this at the forefront of their mind.
You will work alongside a Dietician, Chef, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Nurses, Assistant Psychologists and Teachers, Occupational Therapists which will provide opportunity for learning and development in your career.
We will provide Supervision, reflective practice, training, and opportunities for professional development. We are passionate about improving standards and service user/carer experiences.If you meet the essential criteria and believe you can work autonomously within an MDT and are keen to learn about working with young people and their families we are waiting to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
Nursing associates within the Beacon team will be a key role in all aspects of the young person and the family's care. The role is well suited to Nursing Associates who are passionate about young people remaining the community, living with their parents and providing support for young people and their families to take steps to recovery.
You will work as part of the specialist CAMHS Eating Disorder team to provide interventions, physical monitoring, and co-ordination of care for young people presenting with eating disorders and their families.You will intensively support families, children and young people within the Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa Model (FT-AN)
This role will initially be based at our Ida Darwin site in Fulbourn before relocating in approx. 12 months.

1. To engage with Families and young people where a diagnosis of an eating disorder has led to a referral for intensive treatment delivering person centred care.2. Deliver meal support, meal supervision, role modelling a healthy attitude to food, problem solving and practical assistance to young people, parents and carers as part of the agreed care plan.3. Provide pyscho-education on eating disorders and support with a range of practical, health and social care interventions for families & young people, under the supervision of a senior clinician from the MDT.4. Undertake physical observations and medical monitoring procedures where appropriately trained to do so and respond accordingly to any concerns.5. Assess risk, Plan, deliver and evaluate service users care in conjunction with the MDT.6. Maintain adequate healthcare records in line with policy and guidance, practice within professional boundaries and in accordance with code of practice.7. Support day to day running of service including carrying out daily tasks and supporting students/new members of staff8. Liaise with external organisations as required, promoting partnership working to ensure holistic care and attending review meetings as delegated.
