Job summary
We are currently looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Mental Health (MH) Practitioner to join our Memory Service. This is a great opportunity to join our friendly and passionate Team working with a specialised client group.
You will not only be part of an established well integrated MH team including practitioners, psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrist, MH Support Worker and Social Workers.
We are motivated team providing a service-user focused, evidence-based diagnostic service for people with concerns about their memory and living in their own homes/care homes within the community. We seek to provide high quality and effective treatment, care and support which is informed by your professional body.
The post has opportunities to develop skills and knowledge via training and working alongside experienced practitioners and to be involved in service improvement.
The successful candidate will be required to be flexible but primarily based at Dementia Resource Centre, Peterborough.
Main duties of the job
Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Mental health practitioners in the Integrated Care Team (Mental Health) will provide assessment and interventions for people with significant concerns about their memory.
Offer training, advice and guidance to colleagues in the neighbourhood teams on dementia and memory assessment.
Supervise and manage the junior mental health practitioners in the memory assessment service.
Work closely with the mental health integrated care team in order to provide an excellent mental health service.

- Assessment of mental health needs
- Delivery of mental health interventions for both service users and their carers in accordance with mental health care pathways for memory assessment.
- To supervise and assess the use of prescribed medications according to professional guidelines and policies. To be familiar with therapeutic and side effects of prescribed medication and observe statutory and local policies in the prescribing, storage and administration of medications.
- To practice as a supplementary non-medical prescriber (with appropriate qualification) providing specialist advice in non-medical prescribing and medicine management policy in line with Trusts nonmedical prescribing policy.
