Job summary
The Clinical Innovation Project Manager facilitates the delivery of the Trust Innovation Strategy and CUHP innovation strategy and provides a point of contact between the Trust and innovators who wish to work in partnership to address unmet needs, surface and commercialise good ideas and improve patient outcomes.
The post-holder will assist CPFT's vision become an exemplar site for innovation within the NHS, supporting creative and entrepreneurial staff to exploit their good ideas across the broad spectrum of innovation from simple service improvements, through to the commercial development of new devices to the benefit of our patients, staff and the organisation as a whole.
The post holder will be responsible for operational oversight and day-to-day coordination of projects and work packages related to the adoption and spread of innovation. A key role will be to develop and foster key relationships between the NHS and the wider ecosystem (industry, universities, and businesses).
The role will have responsibilities to Cambridge University Health Partners to support alignment of work across CUHP partners particularly the innovation portfolio and shared learning across partners. They will also work closely wtih colleagues from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS)the NIHR Applied Research Collaborative (ARC) East of England, and Eastern Academic Health Science Network (Eastern AHSN) and will take part in Eastern AHSN's Innovation Review Panel.
Main duties of the job
- To identify, promote and facilitate opportunities across CPFT to engage with industry, initially focusing on three themes aligned with CPFT and CUHP strategic foci:
- Technological advances to improve mental health and/or associated care pathways
- Technological advances to support healthy ageing and community services
- Value-based contracting and reimbursement to drive better patient outcomes
- To conduct systematic horizon scanning for relevant, high quality, commercial solutions as well as opportunities to co-create and develop initiatives with industry
- To conduct a series of priority-setting exercises and workshops across CPFT stakeholders - including clinical directorates, staff roles (leadership, medical staffing, nursing, etc.) and carer, service user and patient groups.
- To develop a series of use cases which identify the key clinical and operational challenges across CPFT with most potential to be improved by health technology solutions.
- To support the development of innovation landing zones in the NHS Trusts across CUHP, including CPFT, to keep practices aligned and to develop shared resorces
- To support the delivery of a common innovation pathway and experience for innovators across CUHP

- Provide day-to-day operational support to ensure the delivery of effective project management and administrative support to facilitate the implementation and adoption of innovation
- Liaise closely with internal and external partners in the delivery of the projects to ensure timely achievement of key milestones
- Help to set up, execute and record action items for all relevant project meetings.
- Develop and maintain an activity database of the project(s) activity. Analyse data collected and generate metrics as required by relevant stakeholders
- Monitor progress of projects to ensure compliance with objectives and proposed outputs which will include the quality and timeliness of data collection.
- Obtain appropriate approval for individual project proposals including preparation of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Plan and coordinate the effective and timely completion of all associated ethics and governance requirements for any project.
- Ensure all project management documents are regularly updated and reflect accurately the status of any project. E.g., risk register.
- Support the running of implementation and adoption projects and will be able to produce reports and up to date information on the outputs to all relevant Partners.

- Ensure that all project plans and key milestones are met and reported on regularly as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

- Take responsibility for performance reporting, project management and/or organisational development in the delivery of service transformation, using Lean and other change methodologies, and to understand interdependencies with other initiatives.
- Ensure risks and issues are identified, reported effectively and counter measures are in place. Where necessary ensure the appropriate escalation and corrective action to ensure these are resolved.
- Provide expert advice on service improvement and to lead on service development and develop and document policies and protocols for activities within their responsibility. Work with other teams / working groups to develop policies for directorate-wide or Trust wide changes
- Project manage project teams to deliver Trust-wide transformation projects which may include care pathway development
