Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Community Psychiatric Nurse to join our expanding Perinatal Mental Health Team to cover Peterborough / Huntingdon / Wisbech team (North base).
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing service. We work to ensure that women with severe or complex mental health conditions who are planning pregnancy, pregnant or have a child under one, receive high quality, evidence-based specialist advice, assessment and interventions.
We provide specialist advice, consultation, liaison, and education to professionals who work with women contemplating pregnancy and during the perinatal period. This is an exciting development opportunity for a Community Psychiatric Nurse interested in perinatal mental health, wishing to develop specialist knowledge and practice in this rewarding field. We significantly invest in our CPN's to foster expertise in our team providing specialist perinatal training. Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge and interest in mental health in the perinatal period together with knowledge of child and adult safeguarding practice. Good communication, collaborative partnership working, time management and planning skills are essential. Some previous experience of working with this group would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of our Perinatal Mental Health Service to ensure that women with severe or complex mental health conditions who are planning pregnancy, pregnant or have a child under one, receive high quality, evidence-based specialist advice, assessment and interventions.
The successful candidate will ensure the provision of specialist advice, consultation, liaison and education to professionals who work with women contemplating pregnancy and during the perinatal period.

- To be part of the development of the Countywide Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service.
- To work directly with women, their infants and families who are at risk of or experiencing severe and complex perinatal mental health conditions.
- To contribute to the development and delivery of Perinatal Mental Health Training and Education to other staffing groups.
- To participate in safeguarding adult enquiries and complete safeguarding lead training. Mentor and co-mentor student nurses.
- To provide medication advice and information within their competency. Provide supervision to junior staff.

- To provide specialist advice and consultation to other staff regarding the management of women experiencing severe and complex mental health conditions during the perinatal phase including guidance on management and signposting where conditions do not require input from a specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service.
