Job summary

We are looking for a member of staff to join the Adult Locality Team to work as part of their internal duty team to provide practical assistance and help with the resolution of problems for service users in crisis or needing an immediate solution to an unplanned situation.

We are looking for someone who enjoys variety in their work, is level-headed in a crisis and is practical. We are also looking for a team player who will work alongside the rest of the duty team to ensure that the unplanned needs of patients are met appropriately and in a timely fashion.

You will need to demonstrate emotional intelligence and evidence that you will be able to manage difficult interpersonal situations and you will need to be able to work from the team base, alongside the rest of the duty team, to ensure you are on hand to help colleagues manage unexpected and difficult situations.

Main duties of the job

Managing the duty inbox and ensuring that tasks coming in are appropriately assigned, completed and recorded.

Supporting the team with this unplanned work e.g collaborating with a key worker to support admitting a patient onto a ward and ensuring that their practical needs are attended to, working with pharmacy to ensure a patient receives their medication, and taking calls from patients in distress and knowing how to de escalate the situation and when to hand over to the lead clinician.

Joining key workers on home visits where a second person is required to support them in an assessment or review.

Essential

  • GCSE's grade A-C (including Maths and English)
  • NVQ level 3 OR equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Training in mental health or social care
  • NVQ level 4

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a health or social care setting, either statutory or non-statutory service
  • Previous work with people suffering with serious mental distress
