Job summary

I'm Rob, I am the Occupational Therapist Advanced Practitioner for the adult inpatientOccupational Therapy team at the Cavell Centre, Peterborough. The successful candidate will be working alongside me, and fellow OT leads, managing the equivalent team on the Fulbourn site, in Cambridge.

This role offers a unique split between operational management and clinical leadership. I lovethisrole, because it allows for a broad range of professional development opportunities, and a balance of specialist clinical work and service development. It's important for me to work in an environment which supports me to develop and utilise thespecialist skills associated with my training.

In Peterborough I have worked with the team, to centralise our OT resource, rather than OTs being assigned to individual wards. This allows our OTs to supportpatients intheir journey throughour wards thus improving the development of therapeutic relationships. We have also introduced an innovative referral pathway, designed specifically to fit the needs of our service, and keep occupation focussed assessment and intervention as our core business. We are hoping that the successful candidate will work to develop a similar model on our Cambridge site. To be successful we will need a dynamic individual who is passionate about the value and development of Occupational Therapy in inpatient settings.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a charismatic team leader who can unite our adult inpatient Occupational Therapy team, lead on the introduction of new innovative evidence-based practice and represent the team and profession at senior meetings.All our Trust Occupational Therapy services use the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) for assessment and treatment with a strong focus on recovery and linking into the community.We are keen for the successful candidate to work closely with our community teams. We want to strengthen links between our inpatient and community services to better support patients in their recovery journey.

As a Trust we have been investing in using sensory approaches to contribute to reducing restrictive practices and understanding behaviours on the acute wards and are keen for this candidate to support the team in developing their skills in sensory approaches. With support, this will allow the Occupational Therapy team to deliver targeted sensory modulation interventions, in collaboration with our patients and designed to support the management of the impact of physiological and psychological distress on daily life.
