Job summary
We are delighted to be recruiting a Trainee Mental health Wellbeing Practitioner (TMHWP). This is a training role within adult community mental health services. The post-holder will be based in the Cambridge Adult Locality Team (CALT) whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. Progression into a permanent contract is subject to the successful completion of all elements of the training. Upon meeting this criteria, the role will progress to a band 5 qualified MHWP position. The course duration is 12 months.
This new work-based training role will increase diversity in our adult mental health workforce and provides an opportunity to deliver patient facing care whilst developing a career in the NHS. During your training phase , you will be undertaking a University programme with the University of Essex while working as part of the CALT team to develop the clinical skills and competencies essential to the role.
CALT provides high quality care to people aged 17 and above, who are experiencing severe mental health difficulties. The service operates friendly and well established multi-disciplinary teams with a wide range of professionals contributing to the excellent care of the people that we support.

Main duties of the job
You will work as part of a team of a multi-disciplinary team in the adult locality teams across the South of Cambridgeshire. The team place an emphasis on providing formulation-driven evidence-based interventions.
The role will include two key functions:
To work alongside service users, families, carers and multi-disciplinary team members to co-ordinate care, supporting collaborative decision-making about care and treatment. The care co-ordinator function of the role will be a requirement of the qualified position.
To deliver a set of wellbeing-focused psychologically informed interventions, aligned to cognitive-behavioural principles, based on the best evidence available, that address problems often experienced by people with severe mental health problems.
The post-holder will attend all elements of the programme of study and progress successfully through assessments of practice competence. During the remainder of the week, the post-holder will work as a trainee in the service, under supervision of their supervisors. They will work within the limits of their experience and assessed competence for their stage of training.
Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines.

- Bachelors degree at a minimum of 2:2 in any subject for entry into Postgraduate route or evidence of ability to study successfully at academic level 5 for entry to the graduate Certificate route
