Job summary
The Psychological Skills Service (PSS) are looking for an energetic, compassionate and flexible Practitioner Psychologist or CBT Therapist who wants to work within an exciting new team expanding into the central (Huntingdon & Fenland) area, completing the countywide roll out of PSS.
The post holder will be part of an evolving service that will be trying to implement new ideas (and change a culture) to think in a more trauma informed way. This means being able to work with some uncertainty and imperfection as we seek to trial and develop new treatment programme and processes.
The team member needs to want to work in a collective, inclusive way. We want someone who enjoys supervision and has an interest in compassionately supporting their development and the development of a transformational service.
The Clinical / Counselling Psychologist will have a particular interest in Complex PTSD and be responsible for contributing to the delivery of services for people in Fenland & Huntingdon who have experienced multiple traumatic events, including severe sexual, physical and emotional abuse and violence in childhood and/or adulthood. The post holder will also contribute fully to the clinical, professional, and strategic aims of the service as a senior member of the team.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside a team manager, psychological therapist/psychologist, clinical associate psychologists, assistant psychologists & support workers. You will also work closely with the countywide consultant and principle psychologists, and maintain close links with the other two PSS teams covering the county.
You will be expected to carry out trauma informed psychological formulations with service users to determine appropriate treatment pathways.
You will deliver a range of therapeutic groups that draw on trauma stabilisation, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema therapy, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT).
You will also supervise Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAP's), Assistant Psychologists (AP'S), and support workers delivering short term CBT based interventions. There will be opportunities to develop other group and individual interventions / pathways and to be involved in service evaluation. Longer term, there are opportunities to support the development of an evidence based psychological treatment pathway for people living with the consequences of multiple and repeated traumas (e.g. EMDR/ trauma focused CBT).

- Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling (or equivalent) psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS and HCPC.
- Undertaken training in the supervision of trainee clinical psychologists
