Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic registered mental health nurse to the position of Professional Nurse Educator for staff within our adult and child eating disorder services, with a significant focus on advancing inpatient nursing practice and education within the Trust. The desired candidate will be able to demonstrate their professionalism and innovative attitude to challenges in the workplace and have a commitment to empowering others.

The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and within a team, whilst demonstrating excellent leadership skills. They will also have a strong clinical background within their area of nursing, as well as a range of clinical and practice experience within NHS services. Additionally, you will demonstrate great interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, support and motivate staff of all levels, including but not limited to student nurses, health care assistants, nursing associates and all nursing staff, enabling them to achieve their professional development whilst feeling supported and valued. Ideally, we are looking for an experienced nurse who is passionate about the development of others and keen to enhance their skills and knowledge in support and staff development.

Main duties of the job

This post is a senior nursing leadership role within Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust with a significant focus on advancing inpatient nursing practice & education within the Trust.

The overarching aim of the Professional Nurse Educator (PNE) is to facilitate and support the clinical, professional, and educational development of mental health nursing workforce colleagues (including but not limited to registered nurses, student nurses and healthcare support workers) on either The Phoenix or S3 Ward.

The post holder will be responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of a programme of clinically relevant practice education to support the professional development of the mental health nursing team, with a specific focus on enabling the delivery of high-quality patient/person centred care that is grounded in evidence-based practice and underpinned by national, organisational and trust objectives, guidelines, and policies. The post holder will provide expert knowledge and clinical leadership to the clinical team, facilitating the application of theory to practice within a designated clinical setting. The post holder will be responsible for the leadership of new practice initiatives that enhance patient care and experience and facilitate patient pathways throughout the psychiatric in patient stay.
