CPFT Adult and Specialist Mental Health Directorate Senior Clinical Fellowship (CESR)scheme invites applicants for 2 new posts:
X2 WTE CESR fellow Adult services North
X1 WTE CESR fellow Learning disabilities services North
This new scheme is a 2-year rotational scheme specifically designed to support those wanting to pursue a career as a consultant psychiatrist in obtaining their CESR.

Main duties of the job
The CPFT CESR fellowship programme provides a personalised programme for doctors wishing to gain entrance to the specialist register through the CESR process. Dependent on individual development needs it will include inpatient, community and emergency work as well as opportunities to gain experience in a range of non-clinical areas. The CESR fellows will also receive clinical and educational supervision with a focus on professional development and successful CESR application.

Job responsibilities
North Adult Services
Initial placements will be subject to agreement with the successful candidates but it is anticipated that that the initial two years will consist of two twelve month placements working at Associate Specialist level. Placements are based in Peterborough in one of the adult acute mental health wards at the Cavell Centre and with the Peterborough Adult Locality Team. A further year can be arranged dependent on the professional and developmental needs of the candidate.
Throughout the programme the appointee will have three SPAs each week including a protected special interest day. This can be used for additional clinical experience such as crisis work and psychotherapy, development of non-clinical competencies and portfolio development.
The post holder will provide medical leadership to the respective teams maintaining the highest clinical standards in the assessment and management of patients with acute mental disorders and sharing responsibility for day-to-day management of the services with active supervision from the designated Consultant Psychiatrist. The post holder will also be expected to attend and contribute to team meetings and clinical governance meetings and to be involved in teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and other disciplines.
North Learning Disabilities Services
This appointment is attached to the Learning Disability Services on Hollies. The post holder will provide medical input to patients of the Fenland LD Team with active supervision from the designated Consultant Psychiatrist. Outpatient clinics will be organised in liaison with the relevant community team which also include home visits to care homes. The post holder will also be expected to attend and contribute to team meetings and clinical governance meetings. There is an expectation that the two Specialty Doctors (Fenland and Peterborough) will cross cover each other.
Throughout the programme the appointee will have three SPAs each week including a protected special interest day. This can be used for additional clinical experience such as crisis work and psychotherapy, development of non-clinical competencies and portfolio development.
