To support the Consultant Psychologist in leading a team of clinical and applied psychologists across CPFT's adult mental health inpatient pathway; wards and their associated CRHT (crisis resolution home treatment) teams. To deputise as required for the Consultant Psychologist.
To support the Consultant Psychologist to ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality clinical psychology service to adults admitted to CPFT adult mental health in-patient wards and CRHT.
To provide local (The Cavell Centre) leadership for in-patient psychology; including professional supervision/management responsibilities for psychologists - recruitment, professional appraisal, and the identification of CPD needs. (To be based at The Cavell Centre, Peterborough)
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
To act as a highly specialist resource for the wider professional community (CPFT and partner agencies).
Main duties of the job
- To provide highly developed specialist psychological assessments of clients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales.
- To formulate plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's mental and/or health problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems.
- To be responsible for implementing a range of highly specialist psychological interventions adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
- To make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes.
- To provide expertise and specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, within the pathway, CPFT and partner organisations, contributing directly to the analysis of clients' problems and disorders to ensure accurate formulations.
- To ensure that all members of the wider clinical team have access to a psychologically based framework for the understanding and care of clients, through the provision of advice, consultation and clinical supervision for psychological interventions.

- Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling forensic psychology (or equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
- Training in supervision of trainee clinical/counselling/forensic psychologists.
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Post-doctoral training in additional specialised areas of psychological practice of an extensive and substantial nature
- Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
Desirable
