Job summary

Band 6 or 7 dietitian for Mental Health dependant on experience and current banding Fixed term

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Dietitian keen to progress their career in Mental Health Dietetics. As a fixed term for 6 months, the Dietitian needs to be empathetic, understanding of complex Mental ill-health and adaptable in approach and style of working. This opportunity can be provided in a blended style of in person, virtual or telephone both in the wars and clinic setting. A Dietetic Link worker scheme is being rolled out which the post holder could be very influential in.

You would join our dietetic team consisting of 25 dietitians and 11 dietetic assistants with good admin support. As well as Mental Health, within the department we have specialities in Diabetes, Nutrition Support and Gastro. We are also a training NHS Trust for the University of Hertfordshire Dietetic students and there would be an expectation for you to participate in this. We have close links with our local teaching hospitals (Cambridgeshire University Hospitals, Papworth Hospital) and District General Hospitals Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Peterborough City Hospital)

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver a specialist Mental Health role in the Nutrition and Dietetic Service in Cambridge & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT).
  • To work as a dietetic practitioner within uni-professional and multi-professional team environments with regular supervision
  • To assess and treat a case load of patients in line with the Model and Process for Dietetic Consultations and maintain associated records.
  • Deliver a high standard of dietetic care in both primary care and tertiary care
  • To deliver education and training sessions related to Mental Health Dietetics
  • To supervise or monitor the work of students or other dietetic staff
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work and workload

  • Post graduate experience working with a range of patients of varying complexity living with wider mental health difficulties.
  • Post graduate experience working in a range of settings including clinics
