Job summary
The post involves working with prisoners of The Fens Unit within a High Secure male prison setting within the prison, including the residential wing, workshops, the health care centre and, at times, may involve attending prisoners who are temporarily based in the Health Care, Segregation Unit, or the Close Supervision Unit.
The post holder will be part of a Multi-disciplinary Team set up to deliver an Outreach Service to provide support to a small caseload of prisoners who may require but are not ready to access treatment on the OPD pathway.
To ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist psychological intervention consistent with the approved theoretical treatment model for prisoners referred to The Fens Unit and Outreach Service.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of both the Trust's and The Fens Unit 's policies and procedures. To exercise responsibility for the maintenance and development of good psychological practice.
The nature of this working environment requires routine exposure to security procedures such as searches and rub downs on entry to the establishment. in line with the prison's security policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
You will have a joint role working within both the multi-disciplinary team on unit and the Outreach Service for the wider High Secure male prison, This is a newly appointed position, it will require the post holder to have working knowledge of personality disorders.
The post holder is required to have good leadership skills in order to work across the two areas, with experience in working in a challenging environment, understanding of risk management.
To provide a clinical leadership role, that ensures the systematic provision of a high-quality of Mental Health intervention is accessible to Fen's Unit and the Outreach Service.
The post holder will be part of The Fen's MDT to provide support to a small caseload of residents who may require but are not ready to access treatment on the OPD Pathway. A major requirement of the job is to carry out audit, policy and service development and research activities and/or programmes. The post holder will be required to develop and deliver specialist clinics that address the holistic needs of this population. To develop the psychological approach within the concept of a cognitive interpersonal model. To support the delivery of psychopharmacological interventions within the infrastructure of the NICE guidelines. This working environment can lead to exposure to extremely high levels of distress in others.
