Job summary

Candidates must hold full NMC registration or be a UK enrolled student nurse.

The permanent posts are eligible for a £1500 New Hire Bonus. An initial payment of £500 will be paid in the first 1 month and a final payment of £1000 will be paid 1 year after your start date. This will be pro-rata for part-time posts. Internal applicants are not eligible.

Welney Ward is a 16 bedded inpatient ward, located in the community hospital base of the Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

We specialise in rehabilitation and palliative care of patients unable to return home following an injury, disease process or prolonged period of illness.

We are looking for a highly motivated and clinically skilled first level registered nurse, with an interest in rehabilitation and palliative care. As a valued member of our nursing team, the successful candidate will be required to perform shifts on an internal rotation basis, this will involve both day and night shifts.

Main duties of the job

The registered nurse will be responsible for clinical delivery of all aspects of care for people requiring palliative care or rehabilitation. This may come as a result of a disease process, accident or injury following a fall, deconditioning during a recovery process or frailty.

The role will involve liasing with members of the wider multi disciplinary team to plan for a safe and effective discharge from our service, encompassing any changes to their pre admission condition and increase in care needs.

Responsibility will be for the coordination of all care providers within the team to provide a plan of care, acting as patient advocate in unison with goals set by therapists for an improvement in mobility and independence to aid the effective return to home or onward care location.

Main duties will also include delivery of physical care, administration of prescribed medications, management of care staff and a mentor to students
