Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced cancer nurse to join our Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team on a short-term basis. You will be joining an established multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for offering expert clinical advice and emotional support to patients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual to be part of this highly specialised team. You will work as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team and use your clinical expertise to co -ordinate high-quality care. You will have the opportunity to improve patient care and help develop the service to help us meet the needs of the increasing number of patients living with and beyond their cancer diagnosis and receiving ever more complex treatments along more lengthy pathways.

The successful applicant will be an experienced cancer nurse with proven clinical skills and knowledge in cancer. We are looking for an individual with strong communication and clinical assessment skills who can impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers, and assess symptoms and side effects from the disease and treatment .You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the physical and psychological challenges faced by this group of patients.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be an experienced cancer nurse with proven clinical skills and knowledge in the field of cancer. We are looking for an individual with strong communication skills who has the ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers. The CNS is the patient's key worker will manage their own clinical caseload, providing highly specialist nursing input and continuity of care to patients at each stage of the pathway (diagnosis, treatment, surveillance and longer term follow up). You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the physical and psychological challenges faced by this group of patients.
