Assistant Service Manager for Quality & Safety & Medical Staffing

Job summary

We are looking to appoint 2 full time (1.0 WTE) assistant service managers on a 18 month fixed term contract to support the children and young people's (CYP) quality & safety and medical staffing teams at UCLH. Our post holders will support the operational management of our medical and honorary staffing teams and the strategic quality & safety agenda of the division. Post holders will have excellent time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and re-prioritise in an ever-changing work environment. A teamworking ethos is imperative to ensure the diversity of tasks within the assistant service manager roles, are met in a timely way to ensure that the division is improving on and continuing to deliver safe and quality care.

Main duties of the job

As part of the team, you will work with the quality & safety manager and quality & safety and medical staffing service manager, alongside other key stakeholders within the division, to support both service areas (quality & safety and medical staffing).

The postholders will be the first port of call for junior doctors, key roles will include rota development, leave requests, recruitment processes, induction, booking locums, and managing changes via electronic staff records (ESR). Additionally, post holders will support the service manager with the coordination and recruitment of staff under additional worker, honorary and observership contracts, as well as staff members under our service level agreements (SLA) and memorandum of understanding (MOU) with other trusts, such as Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

From a quality & safety perspective, the post holders will be responsible for facilitating all aspects of divisional governance which include but are not limited to preparing agendas, distributing papers, minute taking, developing and ensuring completion of action trackers; as well as supporting and providing assurance that the division is meeting local and national policies, procedures, guidelines and patient information review timelines.
