Clinical Research Fellow in Functional, Restorative&Adolescent Urology

Job summary

The Department of Urology at University College Hospital is looking to recruit a highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Research Fellow for a fixed term of 2 years from October 2025 in the Functional, Restorative and Adolescent (FRA) Urology Department. The successful candidate will be joining the largest and most prestigious Urological Department in the UK. We are a highly specialist department seeing referrals from across the UK and abroad as well as being a centre for excellence and research.The post of Research Fellow will take part in research in the FRA Urology team with a timetable of 40% Clinical work (as part of the research) and 60% research for a minimum of 2 years. This will result in a higher medical degree for the post holder.

The department offers comprehensive care for the whole spectrum of Urology services and is split into 5 sub-groups, the teams work together closely along with other services such as gynaecology, women's health, assisted conception unit, oncology and the Uro-radiology.

The subspecialty teams within the Urology Department are:o Functional, Restorative, and Adolescent Urologyo Reconstructive Urologyo Stones and Endourology (including Lithotripsy)o Andrologyo Uro-Oncology

Main duties of the job

o The Clinical Fellow will have primary charge of all patients admitted to the service and the day to day care of the patients.

o There are regular clinics at which the Clinical Fellow will have the opportunity to see new patients, patients recently discharged from the ward and also patients who are under ongoing follow up.

o Prescribe drugs and diets for both inpatients and outpatients.

o Urology admissions frequently arise from trauma and the Clinical Fellow will be expected to liaise closely with the full range of multi-disciplinary teams involved in their care. Attendance and support for the weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting will be a requirement of the role.

o The Clinical Fellow will also be expected to take part in and present audit and research projects.

o The Clinical Fellow will also be expected to take part in teaching other staff, and undergraduate and postgraduate students.
