Nutrition Resident Doctor

Job summary

This is a 12 month post based at University College Hospital, providing an unique training and experience within a tertiary specialist Nutrition centre with a high volume of patients requiring parenteral and enteral nutritional support. Successful candidates will gain exposure to managing complex patients with intestinal failure (i.e short bowel syndrome, complex IBD, radiation enteropathy) working closely with a highly-skilled multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Our UCLH Gastroenterology unit is one of the largest in the UK, and the post offer exposure to all aspects of Gastroenterology, covered by the 14 Consultants within the department. Subspecialty areas of expertise include clinical nutrition/intestinal failure, oesophagogastric/laser medicine, inflammatory bowel disease, GI physiology and pancreaticobiliary medicine. There are a number of educational meetings run each week, including a journal club, specialist multidisciplinary meetings, a 'morning report', and seminars with invited speakers. The department has a committed audit programme. The post holder may also take an active role in undergraduate teaching.

The post would ideally suit an experienced Trust Doctor Foundation year 2 intending to apply for a Gastroenterology Specialist training rotation. Terms and conditions are in line with those nationally agreed.
