University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a 6 PA Consultant in Otology with a specialist interest in Implantology, who has a commitment to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education/training.

Main duties of the job

This post is to maintain and develop the existing unique tertiary service at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital (RNTNEH). The appointee should be experienced in medical and surgical management of routine and complex Otology and Auditory Implants, and will be expected to integrate with and complement existing service provision. The appointee will join the RNTNEH Multi-disciplinary Otology and Auditory Implant team and will be expected to further develop the service

This provisional job plan is subject to agreement and change. The NHS is moving towards 6 day working for elective activity, and there is an expectation that all new appointees have an element of Saturday working in their job plan.

The consultant's job plan is expected to comprise 6 Programmed Activities per week on average, at at the RNENT, as well as our satellite clinics at Edgware and Whittington. The new post-holder will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives with the Clinical Director within three months of start date; and the Consultant may be required to undertake a prospective diary exercise to inform this process.

Of the 6 PA's, 5 will be Direct Clinical Care, including an on-call commitment of 1 in 12; and then 1 SPA. The DCC job plan follows a team based approach. The part of the job plan related to wider departmental activities, supporting professional activities and personal objectives is more individually tailored.
