Job summary

This position provides leadership and supervision for phlebotomists stationed at hospitals and GP practices based in central London.

The successful candidate will ideally have excellent written and verbal communication skills with a minimum of five years experience as a phlebotomist or previous supervisory experience within phlebotomy.

Main duties of the job

As a Phlebotomy Team Leader you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of phlebotomy staff in outpatients, wards and the community

Provide & control an efficient service, ensuring that appropriate staffing levels & professional standards are maintained at all times within the team.

Be responsible for identifying and resolving issues & errors within Phlebotomy including initially dealing with routine disciplinary matters or any issues arising with other staff members and as appropriate supporting the Phlebotomy Manager to resolve issues or errors that arise.

Be responsible for monitoring equipment & working area of the section and taking any appropriate actions such as reporting any faults to the appropriate person

Be responsible for compiling rotas

Complete and monitor sickness absence and conduct return to work interviews, assisting Phlebotomy manager with absence managementConduct appraisals, performance, personal objectives and development reviews

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including Grade C or higher in English
  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare, Customer Care of Business Admin or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Previous NHS or healthcare experience
  • Extensive experience of working with people and teams in a multicultural ethnically diverse environment
  • Extensive experience of working in a patient orientated environment dealing with to face and over the phone. queries both face
  • Previous demonstrable admin & clerical experience proven experience of working in an office environment
