Main duties of the job
Academic role: The academic work will be within the Advancing Equity for children and young people seeking asylum and refugees: a blueprint for Generalisable Interventions (AEGIS) project. AEGIS is hosted by UCLH, in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Institute of Child Health-Great Ormond Street UCL, Barts NHS Foundation Trust, University of Salford and the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health.
AEGIS is funded by an NIHR-RCPCH Programme Development Grant. Our transdisciplinary team, comprising clinical, academic, policy, migration, law, and social science expertise, will develop an evidence and policy-informed programme of work to reduce inequity for unaccompanied children and young people seeking asylum and refugees (CYPSAR-U) and other marginalised children and young people (CYP). We intend to identify key questions about CYPSAR health, education and social care that could be answered using routinely collected data; use novel participatory methods to co-develop user-informed outcomes and qualitative indicators to inform intervention design and evaluation; improve understanding of policy and practice gaps; and create an engagement strategy and patient and Public Involvement Board. We will critically appraise interventions and policy for CYPSAR, identifying gaps and translation barriers, to inform interventions and develop an evidence-based, programme of future work
