Job summary
Applicants are invited for the Advanced clinic fellow in movement disorders (SPR Level) working at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), Queen Square.
The holder of this post will work in the Movement disorders firm. The post holder will have the same educational opportunities and clinical and educational supervision arrangements as the other neurology/stroke SpRs with NTNs.
This position is available from February 2025 for 6 months.
NHNNThe hospital is internationally renowned as a leading centre for clinical care and research. We welcome both trainee neurologists and general medical trainees wishing to gain experience in the management of neurological disorders to inform their future practice. The hospital is closely linked to a number of leading research facilities, and trainees wishing to pursue research interests in future will be well placed to explore this.Queen Square is minutes from Russell Square and Holborn underground stations in central London and has good transport connections to national rail and bus networks.
Main duties of the job
Candidates will have to opportunity to learn from observation and encouraged to develop autonomous clinical assessment and decision-making skills over the course of the fellowship. Multi-disciplinary engagement with specialist nursing, OT, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy neuropsychology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuroradiology, neurophysiology, laboratory based neuroimmunology and neurointensive care is integrated into daily practice. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work closely with the plasma exchange team, neuro-pharmacists and take part in the weekly encephalitis MDT
Qualifications
All candidates should have full registration with the GMC. MRCP or equivalent is essential.
TeachingThere are daily opportunities to attend teaching. These include grand rounds, clinico-pathologic cases, bedside teaching and consultant-led tutorials, often by international experts. One teaching session is protected: a weekly teaching session tied to the curriculum and delivered by consultants.SupervisionAll NHNN trainees will have a named educational supervisor and an electronic portfolio on which to log progress.
