Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated registrar level doctor with experience in diabetes & endocrinology to join our team for a 2 year period. The applicant will have excellent communication, team and clinical skills to join the Diabetes & Endocrinology Team.

Main duties of the job

This post is a Specialist Registrar level and the post holder will work closely with the Consultants, Specialist Registrars, Nurses and other multidisciplinary team members. In addition the successful applicant will play an important role in the delivery of effective care and management of outpatients and inpatients with endocrine disorders.

There is no on call commitment.

While this post is not formally recognised for training, it offers an excellent opportunity to gain skills and experience in diabetes and endocrinology, particularly managing tertiary level patients. There are multiple educational opportunities within the department. We will provide an appraiser and personal development plan to ensure the successful candidate gains the experience they need to further their career.

Professional Qualifications

Essential

  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate a satisfactory training history in general medicine
  • Evidence of achievement of CT2 competencies or equivalent
  • Demonstrate evidence of achievement of at least ST3/4 competencies or equivalent

Desirable

  • Working in a tertiary diabetes and endocrine centre

Clinical Skills

Essential

  • Comprehensive clinical training in General Medical conditions, General
  • Sound basic clinical skills including history taking, clinical examination and appropriate investigation.
  • Ability to make and implement management plans and clinical protocols.
  • Ability to maintain a high quality clinical records.
  • Personal management skills including time management and managing paperwork satisfactorily.

Audit
